A one-week workshop (always in the morning) on international animal disease control with the following topics:

-     A short history of the public veterinary service in the EU (focus on animal health)

-     Philosophy of disease control in the EU

-     EU institutions preparing veterinary legislation

-     EXERCISE: Drafting a legislative act

-     Animal Health Law (AHL): an overview

-     AHL: Listing and categorisation of diseases

-     EXERCISE: Listing a disease

-     Biosecurity

-     AHL: Outbreak investigations

-     EXERCISE: How subjectivity influences farm investigations

-     Case reports of TADs (Transboundary Animal Diseases)

-     Working with international organisations (EC, EFSA, OIE, FAO, WHO)
